We are excited to introduce you to Bille Sheikh ’20 in this edition of the “Student Spotlight.” Bille, who joins us from Seattle, WA, arrived to the States nearly half a decade ago after living abroad with his family for many years. He is working towards his goal of gaining acceptance to a college that has a strong academic focus and will allow him to compete at the next level as a basketball student-athlete.
What would you consider the most memorable part of your first semester here?
I would say the first week of school is the most memorable for me because the week felt like months had gone by. That first week really set the tone for me and made the lifestyle transition a bit easier going forward.
What do you find to be the most challenging part of your BA experience?
I would say trying to separate yourself from others is the most challenging. Everybody comes to BA for similar reasons, but finding a way to be different from each other is the hard part. Personally,I chose to dedicate myself athletically. I wake up early to work out or find time between classes to get in additional workouts. It’s exhausting, but it’s worth the result.
What are your goals for the second semester?
My goal this semester is to finish with a 4.0 GPA and just push my limits [overall]. I want to see how much stronger I can get both mentally and physically.
If you could share a meal with anyone””living or dead””who would you choose and why?
I would choose Kobe Bryant. Being a guy who prides myself in working hard, I want to pick his brain. I want to understand what he did to truly separate himself from his peers. I also want to hear about his winning mentality. I feel like his ideals can translate to every facet in life.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
I want to thank everybody at BA for the fantastic year so far. Coming to Bridgton Academy was the best decision I’ve ever made, and I’m excited for what the rest of the year has to offer.
