Ellis-Fisher Field Expansion Complete

By: Will Groves ’12

NORTH BRIDGTON, ME – Summertime here at Bridgton Academy is a great opportunity to make improvements to areas around campus. Much like the renovation that is happening at Cleaves Hall currently, Ellis-Fisher Field is also getting an important facelift.

Shortly after Commencement for the Class of 2018 wrapped up, the turf company, Northeast Turf Hue Inc., went to work widening and adjusting the soccer lines – in order to meet NCAA specifications. This process included manually ripping up the sidelines, laying the foundation for the east side, rolling out new turf, and relaying the new sidelines.

When asked about the new improvements to the field, Head Soccer Coach Craig Wilkinson said “I’m happy about the dimensions because it looks more professional and that’s the standard we are trying to set here.” This project helps Coach Wilkinson tactically also, due to his hopes of “having a more expansive playing style to help spread the field.” Coach Wilkinson is still hard at work gearing up for his third season as Bridgton’s Head Soccer Coach, but is extremely excited to get things underway for the incoming class.

It is a busy time up here in North Bridgton as we get the final touches ready for the Class of 2019. But, there is still time to come up and visit if you want to check out what The Year That Makes The Difference is all about.
