Courtney Doughty, Director of Academic Support, began her work at Bridgton Academy in August of 2015. As the Director of Academic Support, Courtney oversees the Focused Academic Coaching program (FAC) and Disability Services which includes accommodations for the classroom and standardized tests.
A graduate of both the University of Vermont (BA, Psychology) and the University of Southern Maine (MS, Adult and Higher Education), Courtney is also a certified TESOL instructor; having earned her TESOL certificate in 2004 from the Prague Language Centre in the Czech Republic.
Throughout her professional career, Courtney has worked closely with a variety of learners, including student-athletes and students with learning disabilities. Before Bridgton Academy, Courtney spent nine years working in higher education (University of Southern Maine and New England College) as an Academic Advisor and Academic Mentor. Her roles included advising students in academic and career endeavors, supporting students with learning disabilities and at-risk students in the college setting, teaching courses on Academic Success to first-year students, and designing programs for students on the Autism spectrum. By recognizing the challenges students face in post-secondary education, Courtney offers her insight and skill to support students at Bridgton Academy as they prepare for post-secondary success.
Courtney is passionate about working with students and has always gravitated towards working with students who need that extra boost or edge in the classroom. When she is off campus, Courtney enjoys summers with her husband and two dogs at their home on Chebeague Island, or in the winter can be found skiing at local mountains.
