Academic Dress Code
At Bridgton Academy we recognize that representation of oneself can be reflected in a student’s personal appearance, language, and behaviour. We also recognize that concern for personal appearance is an indication of self-respect, as well as courtesy towards others. The expectation for all students is that they abide by the rules set forth by the Academy and that they show respect for themselves and for others at all times; one way we accomplish this is through our dress code.
From 8:00am through the end of each class day, Monday through Friday, academic dress is required for faculty and students. A class day is defined by the following times: 8:00 a.m. – 2:50 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 8:00 a.m. – 11:50 a.m. on Wednesdays.
The dress code requirement applies to the Hamlin STEM Center, Academy Building, Goldsmith Dining Hall, Humanities Center, and Chapel.
The dress code is:
* A collared shirt (golf or polo style shirt)
* Hooded sweatshirts – If a student removes a sweatshirt then they must have a shirt with a collar on underneath.
* Khaki shorts/pants
Please note that all athletic apparel (ex. track pants or sweatpants) and pajama bottoms are not permitted during the academic day. Additionally, hats are not permitted in academic buildings (STEM, Academy, Goldsmith, Humanities, Chapel) at any point.
For the purposes of Saturday classes, students are free to enjoy a relaxed dress code, which may include athletic shorts, and sweatpants.
**If students are in violation of the dress code then they may be asked to address it prior to being allowed to enter the above spaces on campus. This may mean returning to their dorm room to change**
