A Waterbury, CT native, Marcella has built a legendary program at Bridgton! Beginning with his standout career at the University of New Haven, followed by earning his master’s degree at Central Connecticut State, Marcella began his coaching career as an assistant at SUNY Albany, then returned to Central Connecticut State as an assistant coach.

Marcella began his tenure at Bridgton Academy in 1986 and taking the helm as Head Football Coach in 1990. He continued the football program’s tradition of creating opportunities for dozens of students to play football at the collegiate level, including NFL star Victor Cruz ’05. Marcella oversees Bridgton’s nationally recognized program, from recruitment to college placement. With Marcella and his coaching staff including Matt Burgess ’88, Joe Daley ’77, and Jon Day ’10, the Bridgton coaching staff now has an unbroken line of 32 years of uninterrupted experience the Academy.
