Bridgton Academy Scholarship and Resiliency Funds Inspire Multiple Seven-Figure Gifts
Bridgton Academy is honored to announce its receipt of three anonymous gifts totaling $3.5 million in support for two strategic initiatives—the Wolverine Opportunity Scholarship Fund and the Bridgton Resiliency Fund. These inspirational gifts have galvanized the Bridgton Academy community around its unique educational mission of preparing young men for the competitive rigors of college and beyond and have aided the school in setting a new philanthropic record.
“These gifts represent far more than a historic philanthropic milestone—they are an investment in the future of Bridgton Academy and in the lives of the young men who will walk through its doors for generations to come,” shared Bridgton Academy Board of Trustees President Aaron Daly ’04. “As a proud alumnus, I know firsthand how one year at Bridgton can change the trajectory of a young man’s life because it changed mine. These generous gifts will open the door of opportunity for countless deserving students and strengthen the Academy’s ability to fulfill its mission for years to come. We are deeply grateful for the confidence these donors have placed in Bridgton, and with that generosity comes an equally important responsibility. Our commitment as a Board of Trustees is to be exceptional stewards of these resources, to continue building a financially strong and sustainable institution, and to ensure that every investment translates into greater opportunity, greater impact, and an even brighter future for Bridgton Academy.”
The newly established Wolverine Opportunity Scholarship Fund provides outright scholarship support that is critical in meeting the needs of incoming Bridgton families. An incredibly generous and pace-setting anonymous seven-figure gift, along with support from over three hundred additional members of the Bridgton Academy donor family, has funded access and opportunity to over 75 deserving young men who are now a part of the Class of 2027, creating life-changing possibilities for many deserving students.
Two additional seven-figure gifts have also seeded the newly formed Bridgton Resiliency Fund, a fund established to allow the Academy to pursue strategic opportunities that enhance programs and support its people while simultaneously providing the financial stability that will allow Bridgton to continue to deliver on its mission.
Head of School Diana J. Gleeson was honored to recognize these new investments in Bridgton Academy. “Since the Academy’s founding in 1808, our school has been committed to offering students a year that will make the difference, a year that very often changes the trajectory of their lives. Bridgton Academy creates positive change in the world by providing transformative opportunities for young men. Strong belief in the impact of this mission motivated these tremendous gifts. We are both humbled by—and eternally grateful to—these donors for investing in our mission and for sharing in our vision for Bridgton’s future.”
These impactful philanthropic investments, along with the ongoing generosity of many alumni, parents, past parents, and friends, ensure that Bridgton Academy continues to be an experience of a lifetime, indeed “the year that makes the difference” in a young man’s life.
Bridgton Academy offers the nation’s leading college-prep postgraduate program, educating young men in the year between high school and college.
